SLUG Magazine Announces 12th Annual SLUG Games: Dawn of the Shred

Salt Lake City, January 6, 2012

SLUG Magazine Announces 12th Annual SLUG Games: Dawn of the Shred Presented by Budweiser at Brighton on January 14

SALT LAKE CITY, January 6, 2012 – Tearing down slopes for the last 11 years, the SLUG Games Amateur Ski and Snowboard series is rolling out its first contest of the year on the cold, undead slopes of Brighton Resort on January 14.

Dawn of the Shred will follow a jam format with men’s and women’s open divisions in both ski and snowboard, along with men 17 & under snowboard and men and women 17& under ski. The customized course will feature tombstone jibs, coffin boxes and toxic waste barrels for all the local shred hungry zombies to shuffle over as they compete for survival (and prizes). With FREE registration, even a scrambled brain has no excuse to miss out on the blood bath.

Spawned from the addled minds of SLUG Magazine, the SLUG Games has seen the likes of established pros such as Bode Merrill, Stevie Bell and Gabby Maiden, along with up-and-comers Ted Borland, Alex Andrews and Sean Black among others. The series has made a name for itself among local riders by hosting a variety of themed amateur contests over the past 11 years, celebrating 12 this season.

Registration for Dawn of the Shred begins in the Brighton Center at Brighton Resort at 10 a.m. There is no registration fee, however, contestants must provide their own lift pass and equipment.

Visit thesluggames.com for updates and info on the second and final contest of the season, Shred The Park After Dark coming to Park City Mountain Resort in March 2012.

SLUG Games: Dawn of the Shred is presented by Budweiser. The contest is sponsored by City Weekly, Discrete, RAMP, War Regime, Salty Peaks, Saga, Dale Boot, Milo, Jackalope Lounge, SugarSteak, Whiskey Militia, The Garage, Stoneground, Blindside and SLUG Magazine.

Dawn of the Shred: The Tombstone

The SLUG Games Crew has been hard at work, designing the best possible course to keep the undead happy.

Our friend and local artist, Mike Murdock took on painting the Tombstone Jib for us, and it turned out super fresh and deadly.

Think you’ve got what it takes to shred with the undead? Head up to Brighton next Saturday, the 14th and show us what you’ve got at Dawn of the Shred.
